Smart phones have become an important part of our daily lives and are an important technology for the elderly, especially those who are isolated or disadvantaged.

However, there is no specific mobile device suitable for every senior citizen.

Like anyone else, the choice of a mobile phone for the elderly actually depends on the individual's level of digital confidence and the ability to use the device. But what if you just want a phone that is easy to use, easy to navigate, and allows you to make calls quickly when you are stressed?

According to Denis Gallagher of CHOICE, Australia's leading consumer protection organization, there are many options when looking for a mobile phone for people with low vision, hearing impairments, or people who only like talking and texting devices.

Dennis said: "Simple mobile phones bring most things back to the most basic things, usually without touch screens."

"So, compared to most smartphones, they tend to have retro, simple designs, clear navigation tools and menus [and] the price is much lower."

However, according to Dennis, you may also be surprised by the ability of some of the more popular smartphones to provide useful assistance to seniors.

What should you look for?

Finally, if cost is an issue, Dennis said, many of these options are also suitable for low-budget smartphones.
